Franciscan Gardens, San Juan Capistrano Wedding | Romantic All-Outdoor Wedding

 

Wedding venues that allow for an all-outdoor event are often my favorites, which is why I just adore working at Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano. Jessica and Anthony’s romantic white and green wedding had every bit of elegance and charm, and I can’t express just how much I loved capturing this special celebration for them. (WARNING: more love confessions ahead)

“Our vision and overall feel for the wedding was simple elegance. Something that would be classic and timeless. I took a lot of inspiration from the royal weddings, as cliche as that may sound. I love all the tradition and elegance. Franciscan Gardens was the only venue we toured and booked it soon after. It was a great combination of top service, location and intimacy. We wanted our guests to enjoy the entire venue and we were able to use the indoor and outdoor spaces. The venue really spoke for itself and we loved that about it.” - Jessica

Like most of my couples, Jessica and Anthony opted for a first look, and it was one of the most memorable moments of their day for me. There was so much kindness, love, tenderness and respect that was beautiful to witness. Although I had only met Jessica and Anthony that morning, this was the moment I started to fall in love with these two.

Due to the intimate nature of this tradition, I always try to pick a private place, so this little nook in Butterfly Garden was a perfect spot. Part of the San Juan Capistrano historic district, this garden in Los Rios is an easy two minute walk from Franciscan Gardens. Beautiful California native plants, like cactuses, succulents and flowers provided us with plenty of shade, and it couldn’t have been more perfect for middle-of-the-day portraits. Hummingbirds and butterflies also occupy the garden, which is always a nice bonus. :)

“We were excited to incorporate some of our special memories and interests as a couple into the wedding. One of mutual best friends officiated the wedding. All our table names were named after our favorite films or TV shows. My Mom brought leis to pay tribute to our Hawaiian side of the family and we made a donation to America's VetDogs on behalf of our guests. Overall it was an amazing day, filled with so many special memories. Our team of vendors made the day absolutely unforgettable and we were able to spend the best day with all our closest family and friends. One of the best memories for us was watching everyone enjoying themselves, eating, drinking and dancing. Looking down at our wedding party head table with the gorgeous decorations, flowers and chandeliers. The wonderful speeches made by our families, a mini college reunion and great music makes for the best day of our lives.” - Jessica
